Exciting News: Artist in Residence at Leeds Arts University
I’m delighted to share that I’ve been accepted into the Leeds Arts University Creatives in Residence 2025/26 programme. Running from October through March, this residency offers artists the space, time and support to develop new work, while engaging with the creative community at LAU.
My practice as The Rubbish Artist is rooted in reimagining discarded materials, challenging ideas of waste, value, and transformation. I work across disciplines, bringing together sculpture, installation, and mixed media processes to explore how the overlooked and unwanted can be given new narratives. Being selected for this programme is not only an opportunity to deepen my practice but also to connect with students and fellow creatives in a supportive and inspiring environment.
During the residency, I’ll be developing new projects that continue my exploration of materiality and sustainability, while pushing the boundaries of how rubbish can be used as a creative medium. I’ll also be sharing insights into my process through open studios, talks and collaborative opportunities at the university.
This residency feels like an important step forward in my journey as an artist, and I’m excited to see where it leads. I’ll be posting updates as my work develops over the coming months – so keep an eye out for what grows from the rubbish heap.
